Accountant Finance FT

SUMMARY
Supports the Finance Department in the maintenance of the general ledger, including accounts receivable entries, accounts payable entries, and preparation of account analyses and special reports.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1.  Reconcile cash and charge batch report to sales reports for museum store and admission sales.

2. Coordinate the periodic interface of Financial Edge with other Blackbaud systems including Raiser’s Edge and Patron’s Edge.

3.  Review check requests from departments for appropriate documentation and approvals.

4.  Enter invoices into the Financial Edge a/p module and produce check runs approved by the CFO.

5.  Disburse checks through mail and distribute payment documentation to requesting departments.

6.  Prepare journal entries to ensure accurate general ledgers and financial reporting.

7.  Maintain department files.

8.  Prepare special reports and account analyses as assigned by the Senior Accountant or CFO.

9.  Contribute to effective team management of all problems, issues, and opportunities.

10. Substitute for absent team members as needed.

11. Respond to internal and vendor inquires using excellent customer services skills.

12. Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities but may occasionally direct the work of temporary employees assigned to assist with special projects.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or university with a minimum of two years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficient in Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel and Word. Experience with Blackbaud software products a plus.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to accurately calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages.  Pays attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and quality.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
